Prepare, Protect, and Plant

Governor Dayton has proclaimed this week as Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Awareness Week.   EAB kills all ash trees.  With more than 998 million ash trees in Minnesota and comprising about 20 percent of the Twin Cities metro area urban street trees, this invasive insect is poised to present an ecological disaster.

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) recommends that homeowners be ready to act when infestations are within 15 miles.  That means now is the time to treat if you have an ash tree and you live in the Twin Cities metro area.
